2024 Giant Bluefin Caught off New Jersey Coast

New Jersey is where I was raised. I lived in Toms River for 14 years and Cape May for 3 years. I love the coast and fished a lot. I miss the east coast.

Here are some recent bluefin tuna catches from this year, 2024.

  • 718 lb. Bluefin Tuna
On April 20, Kevin Goldberg and Mike Resetar caught a 718-pound bluefin tuna off the coast of Manasquan. The tuna was 112 inches long and took four hours to reel in. Goldberg and Resetar towed the fish to the Brielle Yacht Club Marina to weigh it.
  • 772 lb. Bluefin Tuna
A fisherman caught a 772 lb. bluefin tuna with a tail that dangled from the stern of his boat. The fish was missing its guts, blood, and one gill plate. The fisherman estimated that it would have weighed 825 pounds, if it was intact.
The New Jersey Bluefin Tuna open season is January 1st to December 31, or until the season closes. The possession limit varies throughout the season, but recreational fishermen can keep one bluefin per day.
