ALPS vs Sea-Guide Heavy Duty Reel Seats
So what's the difference?
Price $45 vs $24
Lots of rod builders swear by ALPS and only use ALPS.
Are they the best?
I've used both and I like both but there is a big price difference. They both are made from the same Marine-Grade aluminum alloy.
Maybe a picture will help us see the difference. You should be able to see the difference...one will be heavier built right?
Let's take a look....
Can you see the difference of almost twice the cost???
I don't think so and I won't buy a product just because of it's brand or name. I build tuna and shark rods with the Sea-Guide HBS aluminum reel seats unless requested otherwise. I really like Sea-Guide and the price is really attractive but not overly cheap. They run around $24.50 for the size 24 reel seat. The HBS reel seat is heavy duty, machined form Marine-Grade aluminum alloy and anodized for corrosion resistance. Well Done!!
