Yes, there is some new technology in the fishing rod world. Carbon Fishing designed and manufactures some very interesting roller guides. These roller guides are high quality yet very affordable. Unlike Winthrop roller guides. Aftco roller guides are getting a little pricey too.
The new technology is the feet on the guides. They are hinged so they can move when the rod flexes under strain. Regular guide feet will not move or flex and could dig into the rod blank if there is no under-wrap.
Carbon Fishing guides are machined from high grade aluminum alloy with stainless steel 316 rollers. Vey high quality and a very attractive design not to mention the 7 colors available.
