Collection: Custom Shark Fishing Rods
Custom Stand Up Shark Fishing Rods
I build custom stand up Shark Fishing Rods one at a time and use the best components such as Alps, Sea-Guide, American Tackle, Fuji, Carbon Fishing, Rainshadow and MHX blanks. Every component is heavy duty from grips to reel seats to tip tops. No cutting corners to save money!
I build shark fishing rods the right way. No steps are skipped. I fit everything by hand and I take as long as I need to make it as close to perfect as possible. No high volume building for me! I enjoy each step too much to rush through it. I love building fishing rods!
I build several Shark Fishing Rods in 30 lb., 50 lb., 80 lb.,130 lb. and the "Great White".
I build most of them with solid 9 mm E-Glass blanks but also use Graphite/E-Glass composite blanks. I select blanks that are tough, powerful and of proven composition. I don't use the most expensive blanks either. I see blanks as high as $600. You don't need to spend that much! Excellent blanks range from $60 to $150.
Conventional boat guides are an excellent choice in lieu of roller guides. I do build rods with roller guides like the "Great White" and the "Giant Bluefin". Heavy duty boat rod guides like Sea-Guide XRG or American Tackle Turbo Elite Guides and also Alps XN series guides will tackle the largest sea creature in the open seas. These are indestructible and will handle line up to 300 lb. The ceramic ring inserts are diamond polished, micro-smooth and dissipate heat. It doesn't get any better.
I do use roller tip tops on most custom shark fishing rods. The tip top gets the most abuse and the most friction. Roller tip tops eliminate friction.
I under-wrap all guides on shark rods. This protects the rod blank from the steel guide feet when the rod flexes. It looks nice too! I double wrap all guides on shark rods except for the 130 lb. and the "Great White" where I triple wrap the guides. They ain't comin off!
